Community Documents for the Morris Area
Over time, communities create documents that are designed to identify a vision for the future of the community. These documents are important because they attempt to show the shared values and aspirations of the community residents. Planning documents are created that reflect ways to achieve a shared community vision or vision created by a significant smaller group. After projects are completed, reports are created that document the success and importance of the community projects. These visions, plans and reports are typically created by local units of government, key organizations and institutions within the community. Past documents are frequently referred to when formulating ideas or creating new visions.
The goal of the Historical Documents Library is to create a central clearinghouse for community residents to easily access these important records. Any group (i.e. City and county planning commissions, educational institutions, grassroots teams working on community projects), or individuals of the community are welcomed and encouraged to use the documents collected here to aid in community improvement activities.
We are still in the process of collecting and archiving these important records. If you have more documents you think would be appropriate or important for this library, please contact us at the Center for Small Towns; (320) 589-6451. We'd be more than happy to assist you!
